The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Asia-Pacific Federation of Association Organizations (APFAO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 29, 2017 at the sidelines of the Association Meetings Programme (AMP) 2017 which was held in Fukuoka, Japan from June 29 to July 1, 2017. ICCA CEO, Martin Sirk and APFAO Pro Tem Head of Secretariat, Octavio B. Peralta, signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations.
The MoU aims to harness common synergies and networks of both institutions for the benefit of their respective members through implementation of programs and activities of mutual interest. Among these are supporting the work of national destination marketing organisations or convention bureaux in the setting up of national association for association executives, enhancing the engagement of association executives in ICCA and APFAO events, collaborating in organising educational forums or seminars designed for association executives in the Asia-Pacific region, and sharing common platforms for the benefit of their member-constituencies.
This broad-ranging institutional and capacity building partnership between ICCA and APFAO paves the way for the development of more collaborative initiatives by the two organizations which are both advocating for the professional and sustainable growth of their respective members.
